Aston Martin DBR2 Recreation

Aston Martin DBR2 Recreation

UK Road Registration

David Brown had always set his sights on a win at Le Mans. This was to be achieved in 1959 together with victory in the World Sports Car Championship by the team of DBR1’s. This model proved to be highly successful, and along with the larger engined DBR2’s, scored many wins on both sides of the Atlantic. After achieving their goal, Aston Martin then concentrated on single seater racing. Only five DBR1’s and a pair of DBR2’s were ever constructed. As Motorsport recreates the glory of these cars with the production of the highly detailed ASM R1 Le Mans.

The Aston Martin DBR2 was the larger-engined version of the DBR1, arguably the most beautiful sports-racing car of all time, which not only won the World Sportscar Championship in 1959 but also the prestigious Le Mans 24-Hour Race (driven by Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori) that same year.

In the late 1980’s Robert Pond, the world-famous car collector, industrialist, aviator, Navy pilot, aircraft designer, philanthropist, a man who after the second world war turned a family business from eight employees to a global $100-million concern commissioned Tempero Specialist Body Constructors to build an all-new aluminium hand formed body open 2-seater recreation of the Aston Martin DBR2 using an Aston Martin chassis / engine and all running gear.
